3 Business Principles in Luke 9 & 10

I sat down to study Luke 9 and 10 this morning with no bullet points and no script. Just me, the word, and a quiet prayer. Less of me, Lord, more of You. What I found was not a sermon. It was a strategy. Three principles for building a business, plus a fourth that is really for the heart.

For the past two years I went all in stewarding a media company I felt led to build, with the Lord as my boss. The way I have grown is simple. I keep the word on me every single day. Sometimes it is a full study. Sometimes it is just a sip. But it is always there before I start my day or walk into a meeting. This is one of those mornings the word turned into something I had to share.

1. Not everyone will understand how you build

In Luke 9:5, Jesus tells His disciples that when a city will not welcome them, they shake the dust off their feet and keep moving. The rejection was not of them. It was of the message.

Here is how that lands for me as a builder. Not everyone is going to understand how you work, what you are building, or why you are doing it this way. Some people will plainly not be about it. That is fine. Dust your feet off and keep going. Their no is not a verdict on your calling.

2. Prepare like Jesus

This is the one I keep coming back to. In Luke 10:1, the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them ahead of Him, two by two, into every city and place where He was about to go.

Sit with that. He did not rush in. He did not show up with all seventy at once and wing it. He sent people ahead to prepare the ground, then He came to teach and heal. He had a plan.

I heard someone say recently that preparation shows that you care. Scripture has been saying that all along. Plant the seed. Water it. Tend it. Then comes the harvest. So before you throw everything out into the world, prepare. Have a plan. Preparation is not a lack of faith. Faith and preparation work together.

3. You already have the authority

Luke 10:19 speaks of the authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy. Read closely though, because this is the part most people skip.

The authority is not yours. It is His. The confidence I walk in now has nothing to do with me or the things I have done. It is not because I wrote a book or hit some milestone. It is the authority God gives you simply because you belong to Christ. If you are walking in your calling, you are not building on your own strength. You are building on His.

And...

Right after that, in Luke 10:20, Jesus says something I love. Do not rejoice that the enemy submits to you. Rejoice that your name is written in heaven.

He hands you authority and in the same breath tells you to stay humble with it. Do not let it go to your head. Do not use it for worldly things. Be grateful that you are known by God. That is the win.

This is the real time version of how I study and build. A revelation comes, my mind starts connecting it to the work, and I share it. I went from feeling like I was living in a pit of snakes in 2024 to being surrounded by ministers, pastors, and evangelists who are building boldly for the kingdom. God can turn a life around in a moment.

He has equipped you with everything you need to build, grow, and prosper. So plan with purpose, walk in His authority, and stay grateful. Stop waiting. Start building.
