Obedience Over Convenience

Last week I did something that the old version of me never would have done. I walked away from my laptop, and my to do list on two separate weekdays to attend two conferences I was invited to just two week prior.

If you know anything about me, you know I spent almost two decades being the first person to answer an email, the first to respond to a text, the one who dropped everything the second a client needed something. I've literally had bosses tell me to put my phone down. I've had clients tell me not to worry about something until Monday. And I still couldn't stop.

That version of me was letting work control me instead of letting God lead me.

The Week Before...

The week before these conferences, I looked at the calendar, looked at the funds, and thought there was no way I could make it work. But I've learned something over the past two years of building: when God tells you to go, He makes the way. The week of, provision came in. Not out of nowhere. It came through the seeds I had been planting, the movements I had been making in obedience to what He was telling me to do.

I booked the Airbnb the day before. Loaded up my Dad and the girls. And went.

What I Received

At both conferences, I heard the same message confirmed: who is in this room right now was called to be in this room. That alone was enough. But beyond that, I received clarity I have been seeking for two years. I received words spoken over me. I met people who poured into me. And one woman looked at me and said, "You were the reason I came."

We don't always know when God is using us to speak into someone else or when He's positioning someone else to speak into us. But we will never find out if we don't show up.

The Bigger Picture

Sitting in those rooms, something became so clear to me. Everything I was trained to do across almost two decades in media, design, branding, creative direction... none of it was ever just for me. It was always for you. To help you grow. To help you build. To help you take the calling that's inside of you and bring it to life so you can hold it in your hands.

That's what Create by Faith is. That's what CDM Creative is. That's what Called Driven Media means. We are driving the media, and we are doing it rooted in faith, excellence, and truth.

Your Takeaway

If you've been feeling a pull toward something and the timing feels inconvenient, I want you to hear this: obedience is never convenient. It's not supposed to be. Fear, anxiety, overthinking... those don't come from God. They come from the enemy trying to keep you from stepping into what was designed for you.

Here's what I want to encourage you to do today. Say it out loud. Whatever that thing is you feel called to do, say it. There is so much power in declaring it with your mouth. Tell God you're here, you're ready, and everything you have is His to use.

And then hold on. Because when you surrender it all, things start to move. Some things will fall away. Some people will fall away. But new windows (networks), new doors, new relationships, new clarity will begin to pour in. And you'll look back and realize that every hard season, every scary moment, every "I don't know how I'm going to get through this" was preparation for exactly where you are now.
